Got this from one of those forwards.. thought I should share it.. how creative students can get when they do not know how to answer the questions.

In no particular order of “irritatingness” / “creativity”.. here they are!

Forza Italia!

h1 Monday, July 10th, 2006

I was supporting France last night.. for Zidane and Henry :) I thought they were quite aggressive in their game. It made it exciting though.. good when you have to stay up in the middle of the night. Too bad they substituted Henry. Too bad Zidane got the red card.. Too bad Trezeguet missed his shot.. Too bad they didn’t win.

The Italians, on the other hand, were smooth and played a beautiful game. It was a good game. A good final match.

It’ll be four more years before the world gets crazy about this game again. For now, it’s time to catch up on some much needed sleep and rest.

Confessions of a tired teacher

h1 Sunday, July 9th, 2006

It’s only been two weeks since school has reopened and work is already making me so exhausted. This entire week in particular has been a mad rush.. filled with plenty of things to do and datelines to be met.

Firstly, the Chinese students from TYZ came. The ambassadors played games and interacted with them through lunches and outings. Daryl and I conducted a HEY lesson for them. The language barrier between us made it challenging to communicate but we survived it. They even had fun throughout the lesson. I guess that’s the one thing that is universal and knows no barrier.. fun. They must have had a tiring week with the many activities that they were busy with. I hope they had a wonderful time. I know our ambassadors did.

Next, I brought a group of 12 kids to NYP for the word competition. Everyone wanted to sit beside Shafiq, but I guess it was not meant to be! He had to change seats TWICE due to technical difficulties. So, he ended up sitting by himself. Thank god for Shafiq though! Office Specialist! Oooh!! The rest of us had fun though! I am glad I brought them.

Trying their best to answer the questions!

Then there was Appie’s birthday. We had a delicious dinner. Happy birthday love :) Yeaps we are getting older!
Happy Birthday love!

And Thursday was Jamie’s birthday :) He just turned one!

Adorable little Jamie

Then on Friday, we had to submit the coursework for moderation. Gosh.. the admin behind it is so time-consuming. And to top it all.. the presentation for the ExCEL fest. We didn’t have that many people signing up but those who were there learnt a thing or two and even enjoyed themselves. I am glad they did.

My wonderful helpers taking a break, playing a game of Snake and Ladder!

Sometimes I feel that because I am working so much over the week that my entire weekend is wasted trying to recover from it all.. and then when the week starts again, the vicious cycle restarts.

Sigh.

Don’t get it wrong though.. I love the teaching part but all these extra stuff that creeps up on you.. they make you tired for sure. Too tired sometimes!

And because of all that, I completely forgot about the class bbq that the ex-students have been planning for months. :( Sorry kids!

I just hope the weeks ahead will be less hectic! I definitely do not want to fall ill from sheer exhaustion.

First YI Idol

h1 Saturday, July 1st, 2006

We had our very first Yusoffian Idol crowned on Youth Day this year :)
After many rounds of eliminations and voting.. four very talented singers were chosen to compete in the finals. They each had different strong points.. but all of them can sing.

Congrats to all four finalists.. Adam, Valerie, Fateha and of course Atiqah!

If we ever have this competition again, I hope the rest of the school will realise how talented and confident they gotta be before they sign up. The standards have been set.
